We had the best weekend escape to Gobblin Valley and it almost felt like life went back to normal and there was no such thing as the Cornoa Virus for a few days.
Jon, Tanner, Karlee and Tanner arrived the day before us with our kids and got the last campsite available. Derek and I drove up on Saturday and got to Gobblin Valley about 1pm. It was pretty hot there and there are absolutely no trees. However, the camp ground at Gobblin Valley State Park is super nice. It has these nice shade panels over the picnic tables and, the bathrooms has flush potties and sinks with running water and soap. They also had showers!
The boys played lots of horse shoes. The kids loved exploring the campsite and climbing on all the rock structures.
Tanner and Karlee shared the exciting news that they are expecting a baby!!! We made dinner at camp and then in the evening when it cooled down we explored Gobblin Valley.
The kids loved it. It is basically this huge valley full of rock stacks that you can wander around and explore. No real trail. We found a cave that Jon and Chase climbed through with them.
Then, in the morning we had breakfast, packed up camp and headed back home. We took the scenic ride home because there was no rush to get back home to the land of corona and social distancing and home school. We drove through the San Rafael swell and we stopped and stretched our legs at this awesome view site.
Then, we drove through Manti and saw the Manti temple which looks like an awesome stone castle on top of a hill. Then, Fairview and saw the old house with the ice cream shop on the bottom floor that Uncle Jon lived in for a few summer growing up, and then we drove through Thistle and saw the house that was half covered by water when the whole city was flooded by a mudslide.
