Field Trip with Liv

Fortunately, the day of Liv's kindergarten field trip, Dr. Gill was out of town so I had the Friday off.  I gladly told her teacher that I would love to come along to help.  These 3 girls were so excited to be in the same buddy group.

Liv was so excited for me to come and ride the bus with her and sit by her.  I suppose that won't always be cool, so for now I'm treasuring these times.  On the way to the museum she sat right in front of me, and on the way home she insisted on sharing a seat with me.

Her field trip was to the BYU Bean Museum and their paleontology museum as well.  We've been to the Bean Museum many times before, but never the paleontology museum so I was excite to see what they had on display.  On the bus ride over as so as BYU campus and all the Y signs came into view the kids all started chanting BYU over and over until we reached the Bean Museum.

There were 2 or 3 kids to each parent, and I quickly realized how overwhelming it would be for a teacher in that huge museum without parental chaperones.  It was hard for me to keep up with just 3 kids running in different directions.  I can't imagine a whole class.  They had time to explore.

Liv loved petting this lion's head the most.

Then, afterwards everyone gathered for a snack on the stairs outside.

Then, we got back on the bus and each chaperone reporting their 3 kids present before heading to the paleontology museum.  It was small, but had some neat dinosaur bone casts on display.

That museum gave me a bit of anxiety (and I'm sure the museum workers too) with all those kindergarteners.  There were please don't touch signs all over the place and within minutes the kids were of course touching and climbing on everything.

After exploring this museum, we all climbed on the buses again and rode back to school with loud repetitive chants of BYU from the museum all the way back to the school.  Glad I was able to go with her.  It was a fun day for us.

New Floors

We have been wanting to tear out the carpet in our main upstairs hallway and office for a few years now and put down laminate floors.
BEFORE:
We had floors all picked out and then, I tore my ACL and it didn't seem the prudent time to spend a bunch of money on new floors.  That all settled down and we again were about to put floors in, and then my hours at work got cut to one morning a week and I had months of waiting for hospital privileges to start my surgery job so we put it off again.  Once, I finally got to working my normal schedule we decided to bite the bullet and get the floors put in before something else delayed up.  I was so nervous about making this change.  It is probably the biggest thing we've changed in the house since we bought it and I hoped that we'd be happy with our floor choice.  The new floors would come up flush with our already existing much lighter wood floors, so we tried to find something that went well with those.  After we got the floors in we had to repaint the baseboards because they got pretty dinged up in the process.  Which then led to repainting the door frames too which then let to repainting the doors.  It turned into quite the project, but I am happy to say that we couldn't be happier with the new floors.  We really love them and they are so much easier to keep and more kids friendly than carpet.
Now I kinda want to do the rest of the house.  This picture is of cute Camden finding a comfy place to read a book while we were trying to get our office all put back together.

CARTER!!!!!

Carter can be the sweetest most helpful kid when you put him to the task.  But, when he gets bored or maybe it's just that anytime he notices no one is watching he runs these naughty experiments.  To his credit, I always get upset and we have a stern talking and I tell him to never do that again.  And, generally he doesn't repeat the same misdeeds he's always coming up with something new.  I thought I would record a few that he's done the past couple months.

Poor London.  I was was folding laundry in my bedroom when Carter comes in and says, "Mom you know what I did? ME: What?  CARTER:  I peed on London (and he starts giggling).  Enter in London...CARTER:  See?  And poor London is all wet and sure enough reeks of pee.  So, she earned herself an immediate bath.

I had a book club meeting at my house one night and filled up the water canister with lemons and water.  I knew I should have cleaned it out at the end of the night, but I left it for the next day.  I come out to the kitchen after getting ready for the morning to find the kitchen fairly well flooded with water all over the floor and my entire Costco flat of tomatoes and the left over bowls of breakfast oatmeal all floating in the canister.  Ugh that oatmeal was particularly hard to clean out of the grated bottom.  I must say that Carter did enlist Camden's help with this one.

I have no idea when this even went down.  Half way through the day Camden says, "Mom you better come see."  I am led to the kitchen and over to our brand new couch with cup holders built into the center to see two eggs had been cracked into them.  Shells in one holder, eggs in the other.  When questioned about it, Carter just states that he wanted some eggs.

And most recently, Carter went into my bedroom grabbed the latest library book I had just finished and dumped an entire glass of water onto it.  It wasn't till a little later that I discovered it.  I was real mad about that one and yelled and told him that I would have to pay lots of money to have to buy that book that he had ruined.  I gave him a little lecture about how we treat books.  Right before bed that night he said, "Mom you still mad at me?"  It was so sweet that I promptly told him I forgave him, but that I never wanted him to do that again (and I'm sure he won't, but I really don't want to know what he will come up with instead for next month).

Not pictured this month are all the furniture he colored with markers, the dark blue nail polish he spilled all over the carpet in his room, my big tub of moisturizer he was found stirring with Liv's toothbrush, or the entire bathroom he took a purple gluestick to.  It's never-ending with that kid.
