The Boys Played Baseball

The boys played baseball again this year and really improved a lot.  Derek awas the assistant coach of their team.

Camden actually got into catching and did great- he also was a fantastic hitter.  Carter pitched this year and also did great.  It was my favorite when Carter would pitch and Camden caught.  We called them the battery bros.  They had an amazing play in the last game of the year when Carter threw and Camden caught an out at home!  Both boys made the All-star team for the first time.  It was so fun for them to play in that game and get the All-star hats that they continue to sport.

They are excited to play again next year.  Derek got the kids a pass to the strike zone this winter so they can practice their baseball skills all winter long.

Girls' Camp

I had the privilege to attend Girls' Camp this year.  It was at Mia Shalom which I had never been to before and it was gorgeous.  I had anxiety leading up to it- about leaving the boys, missing working, getting all packed and ready, not being able to sleep it all just felt like too much.  But as soon as I got in the car and headed up I felt great.  And I had so much peace all week and it was great to be disconnected from my phone and to feel the spirit, bond with the girls, and spend time in that beautiful area.  We had the best food made by our camp chef Courtney Shaw.  She brought these cute chef hats for all the girls to wear when she they were helping cook.

We got to do a service project, helping to cut wood and fill all the campsites with wood for their fires.
We got to spend a day paddling on the lake, did a group stilt walking activity,  and we did a trust fall.

We got to shoot bow n arrows and rock climb.  Each night they were have a little devotional/program and we had to come up with a role call.  We slept in cabins on cots- I brought a big cushy pad and my eye mask and actually slept pretty well- except for having to get up to go to the bathroom each night.  They have a night where they do singing in the trees- all the wards stand in the trees and each ward chooses a song to sing.  Our girls sang a Shalom round and it was beautiful. The last night was testimony meeting and it was the best as always.   Then, our last morning we did a short sunrise hike and all the girls got their parent letters to read as they watched the sunrise before we headed back to camp to pack up.  And everyone got these super cute sweatshirts to wear!
