Texas Roadhouse Fieldtrip

For some reason the boys’ classroom won a field trip this year to the Texas Roadhouse. They send out an email saying they didn’t need any parent volunteers for this field trip. I had to make special arrangement to meet the class there because that day also happened to be Carter’s ortho appointment (the one that cleared him to return to life with no more brace). The morning of the field trip I received an email stating that some of the chaperones they had planned for were sick and could not attend the field trip and would I be willing to stay after dropping Carter at Texas Roadhouse. I was so thrilled at the fortuity of the situation. It was such a fun day with the boys. They made cookie cutter shapes out of the rolls, got a tour of the kitchen, did some relay races with cups and to go boxes to practicing being a waiter, we all got to eat lunch there, and then they did a scavenger hunt around the restaurant and got to decorate cacti.

 

Tuck Everlasting

Olivia was invited to be in the ensemble of Tuck Everlasting for Fields Co. I thought she was too busy to fit that in with her COPA schedule, but they promised to work around her schedule and Liv begged to be able to do this play with so many of her favorite theater friends. So D and I relented. It ended up working out great. And I really do love some of the themes in Tuck Everlasting revolving around the beauty of living life to the fullest and growing old. The show was super fun Poppi and Nana and Babi and Papou all came out to catch it. Liv had some great ensemble leaps across the stage and it was so fun to watch her up on stage interacting with some many of her theater friends in one show. 

 Liv made bracelets for everyone in the show as a cast gift.  Fields and Co was such a great company to do a show with.  One of my favorite things they did was give a personalized shout out on social media to every cast member.

Olivia Turns 12

Olivia turned 12 this year which is crazy to me. She definitely doesn’t not seem like a kid anymore, more like a teenage. She is loving Young Womens and going to the temple to do baptisms for ancestors. She did what she loves most on her birthday and performed in Tuck Everlasting so we all went to see her even Babi and Papou who came up for the play and her birth day. After the play Liv ordered cheesecake.  Papou didn't realize it was her birthday cake and snuck a piece so she blew out candles over a cheesecake with a missing piece.  

Babi took Liv to lunch at Olive Garden. 

 Later in the month, after the show was over Liv threw herself a birthday party. She made the invites and sent them all out via text. We had about 20 girls there from all her favorite social circles. 

 They had pizza, she had them all introduce themselves, she had them all fill out a questionarrie with questions about her…who knows Liv best. She had crumble cookies instead of birthday cake. Then, they all watched Sandlot (her choice). As a party favor she insisted on giving them all $5 gift certificates to Pop N Dot. 

 The party went well, was super easy for me, and she almost entirely did the whole thing herself. So maybe she is officially in charge of her own birthday parties from here on out.
