This year for Annie’s birthday she decided she wanted to plan a rapelling trip with a bunch of girls. She set up a guided rapelling tour down Cassidy arch in Capital Reef National Park. There were 7 of us. We all loaded into my car and drove down on Friday night. We ate some Mexican food and then played 5 crowns before heading off to bed.
The rapel took most of the day. First you hike up to the top of Cassidy Arch, then you rapel down 8 different rapels back down to ground level.
I wasn’t anticipating being scared, but I found myself terrified to drop over the ledge and begin each rapel—every single time it never got easier.
We had a great time hanging as girls and chatting all day and encouraging each other to face our fears of these scary rapels. It as honestly such an incredible experience. After the long rapelling day, we all scarfed down some pizza and then drove home. Derek was super dad back at the home front. He got Liv to an audition, and an early morning music video shoot, then helped her prepare for an attend a callback audition, got the boys off to a birthday party all while I was out of cell range.
