A Post About Liv

Liv and I got to see several shows during the COVID pandemic: Mary Poppins at HTC, Willy Wonka and Scarlet Pimpernel at the Scera Shell (free to us because of comp tickets from Liv scoring a part in Music Man),  Matilda and Moana Jr. at the HCTO. 

 Because Olivia won her school story telling competition and then sent in a video to the Timpanogos Storytelling judges and was selected out of a few kids from across the country, she was invited to participate as a Youth Storytelling in the Timpanogos Storytelling festival which was done virtually this year.  However, she was able to give one live performance outside at the University Mall this summer. 

She got to do an awesome summer cabaret training with Broadway Kids Auditions over zoom. The culminating result was a video performance of Button Up Your Overcoat.

 She got to be paired with a current Broadway actress who mentored her over the week. Live loved that and asking her questions about her life. She also got some feedback from broadway agents. Just an all around cool experience that was supposed to be done in New York except for New York City getting shut down with the pandemic. Over the summer, Liv found time to play on a softball team and she loved it. Her favorite position to play was catcher. 

 But, she was actually and all around pretty good softball player. She loved leading all the little team chants and was great at bat. She had one hit that won her team a very close tied game. Every summer she gets an entrepreneurial bug. This summer she started a dog washing business. She made fliers and distributed them to everyone she knew with a dog. She may have only had two customers and one of them was me, but I loved having her wash London for $2 all summer long for me instead of me having to do it. 

She really wanted to learn to mow the lawn like Kenadie this summer.  She discovered that it is much harder than it looks. 

 She is currently Zac Efron obsessed and here is the smile of watching him to prove it. 

 Her favorite thing that she is participating in currently is the Rise Up Children’s Choir. They have made several super fun music videos this year. The fist was to BTS’s Dynamite. They made a fun dance video at the Traverse Mountain Outlets. This video totally took off and got over a million views. 

 The next video they shot was a Polar Express remake type video that they collaborated with BYU’s Vocal Point on. They filmed the video on the Heber Creeper train on a late cold night, but had so much fun. They all wore Christmas pajamas and the only pic of Liv in her costume I got while she was practicing her piano before we left.

And the last one they filmed with Gentri was called Be a Light. The Music is gorgeous and has such a special message. 

 Performance wise…over the summer Liv performed with COPA in a fun Matilda medley. 

 

Then, Liv scored a part as a rapping Caterpillar in COPA Youth Theater’s production of Alice in Wonderland. She did a great job singing Ma He’s Making Eyes at Me for her MDT solo showcase. 

 I got a kick out of this board Liv hung outside her room with a very fitting quote of the day from the Musical Matilda. 

 Another day she taped up this home made mailbox outside her door. 

 For her BFF Johanna’s birthday, she insisted they have matching jumpers so we went shopping all around town to find these. 

 Then, later that day Johanna threw an 80s bday party at Classic Skating and Liv got all decked out. She did all her own hair and make-up.
