So these kids are on social distancing strike in my backyard...😬
Home school Day 32 (1 week left!!!): Liv had her first virtual Battle of the Books battle today, so she asked me to quiz her on book authors beforehand. She totally has all the authors for all 20 books memorized. I couldn't even remember which books I had already asked her about. Needless to say, she won the Battle by a lot. The kids convinced me that in honor of Cinco de Mayo falling on taco Tuesday we had to get Tacos for lunch, so we did! My Young Women partner in crime brought apples and carmel and these cute notes around to all our girls.
She brought one for us too! And before I had even finished talking to her at the door, my kids had already sliced the apples all on their own and were enjoying them with the carmel dip. My kids cleaned all the baseboards in my house today and Liv mopped my kitchen floor. I could get used to this...
This girl decided to spend her day sewing masks.
Home School Day 33 (4 left😁!!): The boys seem more motivated lately to finish their school work early so they can go outside and enjoy the day. They got to play another game for Phonics. Liv spent the day after chores sewing a mask.
I BBQed chicken and made potatoe salad for dinner--seemed like a lovely day for it. And most exciting...Liv had an in person audition for a real live show tonight! It's been so long! Scera Shell Outdoor theater is doing Willy Wonka and they got permission to go ahead with the show! Crossing out fingers for a callback on Saturday even though this girl is only 9 and they asked for 10 and up 😬.

Home School Day 34: (3 left--giddy about it): Well, I woke up to the kids on strike. They even made a sign and everything. They decided they weren't doing their school work without Jamba juice...so I abided to keep the peace.

Camden and Carter had to answer a writing prompt about when the school bus was supposed to take them to school, but instead took them to... Disneyland (Camden) and Nickle City (Carter). They really enjoyed this writing task and wrote more than the required 3 sentences (which is what they usually do--not a sentence more).

Liv had her first day back in the studio with her MDT company. She sewed her own mask (which was required) for the occasion.

The boys have been learning about Needs vs. Wants in economics (because 1st graders study economics these days). Camden wants a camp trailer (like his Dad) and a hot tub (also like his Dad). For PE, the boys looked up some basketball drills online and followed them.

Home School Day 35: We did half of our homework and then decided to escape to the mountains instead. We introduced the Snow Family to beautiful Big Springs because they needed a kid friendly hike. The kids had so much fun hiking and exploring. Then, when we got to cell service again we found out Olivia got a callback for the role of Violet (the girl who turns into a blueberry) in Willy Wonka at the Scera. So we are madly trying to memorize music and lines and learn a Southern accent before tomorrow's audition.
The boys each composed their own song this year in let's play music and we had to send in videos of them playing them for a virtual recital their teacher is putting together.
