Corona Quarantine Week 3

Everyone helped with yard work today and were actually super helpful. Except London...she just laid next to us and chewed on sticks.

While the thought of those grubby fingers touching those cups way too many times and the wastefulness if this whole thing irks me to know end...I'm letting it slide because we are basically house bound with no friend interaction. Liv said this is super entertaining and could keep them entertained for days. And all 3 of my kids were honestly happily working on this together and entertained for a good while. Thank goodness for that.

We had a great Come Follow Me church discussion at home today led by Liv. Then at the end we made this diorama of Enos. You can find all the things you need to make it in this month's issue of the Friend.

Homeschool Week 3/Day 11: The boys spent all morning playing around. I now have a pet worm in my garage.

 They played baseball, and Camden tapped on and off all day. For art the boys had to draw their animals again (gorilla and tarantula--more recognizable). 


Liv spent a whole week on this perspective drawing and finally finished! 
I finally got the boys excited to start their homework by telling them they could read to Papou over skype. 

We didn't finish everything until 5:30! But, we got news today that Olivia took first place in her age division in her Vocal Adjudication! Hurray! A positive way to end the day.

Homeschool Day 12: Started out bad because our printer and then iPad charger broke. Really need functioning printers and iPads to homeschool. So we gave up and made berry buttermilk pancakes for breakfast which made everything better. 
That and admiring our freshly cut backyard grass that I mowed for the first time of the year last night. 

The boys avoided schoolwork all morning again and instead spent their time building hammocks off the side of their bunk beds. 


Thank goodness for Liv. She is the studious one that just gets up and works through all her school work on her own. 

Liv played multiplication battleship with Babi via skype. 

Carter read to Babi via skype. 

Camden put his shorts on his head. 

Amazingly, we finished everything before 6pm, so we made quiche and banana bread!



Homeschool Day 13: Shhh Liv is secretly my favorite homeschooler--she mopped my floor today. 

We spent the week emptying and wiping out every kitchen drawer! Miraculously everyone finished jobs by 12:30 or 1 today, so we hiked the G. They grumbled about going, but all admitted it was a fun hike at the end. 


We found some shade behind some solar panels on the way up. 

The view from the top of the G was great.

 We found a hollow log we decided to call a wishing log. All the kids threw in stones and made wishes. Camden wished for more games on his ipad, Carter for no more homework, and Liv wished for the Corona virus to go away so life can go back to normal. 

Then, we came home, showered, and the boys water color painted while Liv worked on designing a zoo.

Homeschool Day 14: It snowed again! Glad we hiked yesterday. I made it out on a 6ft apart stress relieving run with Annie this morning. Everyone did a great job working through their homework and they went through all our crayons and markers and pens today--threw away stuff that didn't work and made a bag of broken crayons to repurpose. I rewarded them with Arby's milkshakes. We played Simon says for PE--my favorite order was "Simon says kiss someone!" I got a nice smooch from Liv. The boys did Imagine Ink while Liv finished her zoo project. 

She designed a zoo with 14 animal exhibits and had to calculate the area and perimeter of each!

Homeschool Day 15: Who is ready for Spring Break?  Desperate times called for desperate measures. Since professional haircuts don't seem to follow social distancing requests, Derek threatened to buzz cut the boys hair that was getting quite long. The boys agreed to let me attempt cutting it myself (first time I have ever given a haircut), and if it didn't work out then we would buzz it all off. 


They aren't the best haircut they have ever had by any means and we will be glad to have @nancy.neena60 doing it again hopefully soon, but it's not like we are going in public anytime soon.

 Aunt Kylie convinced Olivia that it was Formal Friday today, so she dressed up. 

She had a Book Report due today. She just finished reading Harry Potter (book 1) and for her report decided to do a dramatic reading with British accent and different voices for each character and all. Today, we organized the legos, and then the kids played with them for hours. 

And cute Carter stood on this fence and talked to his friends on the other side for a good 45 minutes today #socialisolationisrough. 

We didn't get all the homework done until after dinner, but all the distractions along the way were super fun.

Look what I just found in my bathroom!!!  These are strange times...I guess a Liv decided to make her brothers a memento!
