I feel like I deserve an “I survived soccer season
shirt.” This was the first year that the
boys were old enough to play. We took
all the kids to get new cleats. The boys
excitedly displayed their bag for this picture after. Here are the cute boys all dressed up for
their first game.
This is the only
picture I took of Liv in her uniform and it was actually documenting the
milestone that London had recovered from her surgery enough that she was
finally allowed outside off leash (that was a long two months).
Between all the kids games and practices we
had soccer almost every day of the week.
Liv was excited to play with her best friend Hallie and her other good
friend Lennon this year. It was a scream
fest every game when they all arrived and were reunited. She is still a great little soccer and
usually makes a few goals each game.
Although she never seems super excited to get geared up and go. Camden was quite the aggressive soccer
player. In fact he constantly had to be
reminded not to tackle or push on the field.
Carter mostly observed from the field and occasionally decided to try to
participate in the play. The very first game gave everyone a laugh, Camden and
Carter actually ended up on separate fields which was a bonus because it kept
them from wrestling with each other instead of playing, but it was hard to
watch both fields at once. Camden had
scored multiple goals and was playing quite well on his field. Carter had yet to get too involved, but he
finally got the ball and started kicking towards to goal and before long he was
stuck in a huddle of 4 year olds unable to move any further. He being the problem solver that he is,
crouched down, picked up the soccer ball with his hands moved it over a few
inches around the conglomeration of soccer players and now with a clear shot
kicked it into the goal! Unfortunately,
their whole team was on the young side and we got killed every game (even
though they don’t actually keep score).
There was one game that our team only scored one goal total (and that
goal was from Camden). He got this super
aggressive look on his face realizing that something needed to be done and then
he plowed through everyone and scored. Then,
he returned to not caring too much about the game with the rest of the team.
Derek would like me to note that both teams were under staffed. I took a turn one day coaching the Liv’s team
and he spent quite a few games coaching either the boys or the girls (which he
will tell you tries his patience excessively).
