St. George Trip

I decided to attend the John Allen Memorial PA CME conference because they changed the location this year from Mesquite to St. George.  It gave our family a little excuse to make a trip to St. George.  I rode down on Wednesday with another PA named Tiffany who is working with my friend Tyler at the new PA school in Provo.  She was super nice to drive me and we totally hit it off.  I stayed at the Ramada and had to rely on others for rides to the conference until Derek made it down with the kids.  The conference was good.  I got 23 hours of CME which I desperately needed and learned a few things I can implement into my practice.  Plus I figured out the new certification requirements which are gonna be a pain, but at least I now know what is expected.

Derek had quite the exciting first few days home alone with the kids.  He took all the kids by himself to Liv's soccer game.  I guess it started to rain at the end of the game and that resulted in a mass exodus.  And when Derek was fairly stuck in a car line up, Liv announced that she really had to go to the bathroom.  As Derek was trying to maneuver his way back to the restroom, she stood up in the car and peed her pants.  Derek was not thrilled about cleaning that up.

Then, the following morning Liv awoke covered in hives that remained constant for the next 4 days or so before they finally started to calm down.  I was worried that it may be some sort of food allergy and made her stop eggs and milk until we could get into the allergist to be sure.  The allergist did some skin prick allergy testing and the only allergy she tested positive for was DOGS!

He said he didn't think that outbreak of hives were a result of the dog because they kept going strong throughout our whole vacation in St. George away from London.  He said it was most likely the result of a passing virus and that her dog allergy appeared very mild and he wouldn't change anything for now.  Liv was very attentive to everything he said.  She reminds Derek every bath night that the water must not be too hot, that she can't have any bubbles, and that she must be lathered with lotion after getting wet.

Derek was an all-star Dad and drove to St. George with all the kids all by himself.  I wished my knee wasn't injured so we could have done more hiking in St. George.  The kids' favorite part of the whole trip was swimming in the outdoor hotel pool twice a day every day we were there.  We took them to explore Pioneer Park.  It was so neat I really wished I could have explored more.  There were tons of red rock and caves to climb in.




We walked around the St. George temple grounds one day.  The grounds were beautiful and the kids walked around smelling every rose.

We spent one evening BBQing with Nick and Sunni.  It was fun to catch up with them.  And on the drive home, we stopped at Cove Fort and took a little tour.  Derek and I have both driven past in many times and never stopped to check it out.  It was pretty neat.  It served as a place for people to send telegrams and change horses on their travels from southern Utah to Salt Lake.
