1) Derek and I went with our neighbors up to Dorena Lake for a bike ride. We did a 20 mile ride, but you could go forever if you wanted. The trails are paved and you get to ride in the shade of huge pine trees the whole way. Plus, you are riding next to gorgeous Dorena Lake for most of the ride. I loved it! Note: Bike in picture is the awful bike I rode in my triathlon. It amazingly hasn't fallen apart yet.
2) I changed the oil in my car. No, not myself of course...I went to Walmart. But, I have been putting that off for weeks.
3) I got gas at Costco! Don't tell Derek, but lately I have not wanted to face the 10 car line-up to get gas at Costco, so I've been going to Chevron where the gas is way more expensive, but you have a much shorter wait. Totally worth it in my book. (Although, at Costco, I do have enough time to get through most of a chapter in the book I keep in my purse...)
4) Derek and I took our baseball mits to the high school down the street and played a mean game of catch. I'm the best female catcher in the world (okay that may be an overstatement, but I'm not bad just ask my husband...or Jen Hess). My arm on the otherhand could use a little work.
5) I wrote 4 pages of a paper that has to be a minimum of 5 pages. I hate writing papers. See what a little sunshine can do?
6) We hit up a party at a friend's house where the featured activity was boxing on the Wii. I ALMOST beat Derek. That Nitendo Wii is amazing!!! In real life I would have no chance against Droc.
In other news, I started my last rotation of PA school! Which makes me realize how close I am to finishing. I can't believe it. I'm currently in an in-patient rotation at Salem Hospital. My preceptor is awesome and teaches me so much. The patients are mostly old, sick, on too many medications, and usually delirious from whatever infection is making them septic. Which actually leads to some pretty interesting encounters, but I'll leave that for a future post.
Derek graduates from law school in 5 weeks. You heard me! I am so excited for him! He is pretty neutral about it (as he is about most of life). I think we have finally decided what we will do with our lives for the next year. HALLELUJAH! We are not 100% sure this is our plan, but I am 99% sure and Derek is 90% so that averages too...not sure, but not quite 100%. The plan is: We will stay here this summer (hurray because I love love love Oregon summers and want one more before we have to leave). Derek is going to continue working for his firm here in Eugene and do some research for his tax professor on the side. I am going to work very hard writing my final research paper and studying for my boards. Then in August after my graduation, we are going to fly out to NYC (I don't think we are going to bring either car). I am hoping to find a job out there for the year. And, we are hoping to live in NYUs furnished law student apartments in Greenwich village. All visitors are welcome!

Good job on the bike ride! And I totally agree about the atmosphere when the sun finally comes out. I think everyone in Eugene finally gets endorphins in their brains and it's like taking sunshine prozac! I'm like a totally different person if the sun shines all day! Oh, and I will vouch for the baseball thing. You looked like you had a pretty dang good arm out there.
Dorena Lake is absolutely beautiful, isn't it? I've never biked up there. I'm sure it's great!
*yeah* for almost-100% plans :) I'm glad you guys will be staying for the summer. Maybe we can get some good miles on your roller blades :) We should start planning a ladies' night at Skate World!
Chels, I just have to say that you've come a long long way in your bike riding skills......:) I'm so impressed!!!
For a minute I thought that you and Derek were sharing that bike to ride. Thanks for clarifying that was the bike you used. 20 miles riding on handlebars just couldn't be fun.
Greenwich village, really? How super cool is that? Will you talk to us Western bumpkins when you return from the Big City?
We are very excited for you. To bad you are moving here when we are leaving. We will have to come visit.
oh my goodness, your world is about to change! Believe me there is life after school, but it is so different. I'm impressed with your bike riding skills - I think I could ride in a car for 20 miles or so...
Oh, seeing that picture of you guys outside makes me miss Eugene SO much. I miss the river and the trails and the weather. I need to go back sometime.
I'm excited you guys have a plan. I'm one of those people who goes crazy not knowing what's going to happen and when. Hearing you guys are almost 100% sure about plans is great news in my book.
I do love a sunny saturday! Here in Houston we have many, but I remember how productive we were on those sparkling saturdays.
I'll have to show you a thing or two about playing catch...I do tend to have a mean arm throw, but I had a little practice playing volleyball. :)
Of course the weekend I leave town it gets all sunny and nice... and now we are back and it is cold again. What's that all about?!
Anyway sounds like quite the productive day! That bike ride sounds awesome! And I want to play Wii!
Sounds like you guys had fun. We left our bikes in OR, I am so jealous. I am excited to hear all about your adventures in NYC. You guys are going to have so much fun!
The sun is the best kind of drug. Congrats to both of you! Can we come stay with you in New York? Brian has always wanted to go to New York, and we plan to some day soon?
We will be visiting you guys for sure in New York! Congrats on all the successes you are having in life.
I just played the Wii boxing yesterday for the first time and it's so fun! I totally kicked Patrick's tail! I'm so glad someone in the United States is getting sunshine... it certainly isn't me! Oh why did we ever move away from Hawaii... oh yeah, the cat sized cockroaches.
Yippee for great weekends! Looks like another one is on it's way . . . and you won't be spending it packing cause you aren't moving (well, for at least a few more months)!
