When we found out Chase and Daniella planned to get married in the Newport Beach temple September 28th, 2024, we definitely planned to be there. We flew in a couple days early so we could get a Disney day in. Steph, Jon, Tanner, Karlee, Baylor, and Marshall all joined us at Disney for the day as well. Our family started right when it opened it California Adventure.
We rushed to Radiator Springs Racers in Carsland and basically walked on. Disney was so adorably decorated for Halloween, and our Fall obsessed Liv loved that and would point our all the Fall and Halloween decorations they had everywhere.
We got in all the big rides at California Adventure.
Here is Liv and I all suited for for Grizzly Rapids:
Then, we headed over to Disneyland to meet up with the Davidsons. For some reason Camden told me we had to find the sword in the stone because he planned to pull it out.
I definitely took pictures and did not ride the teacups.
We ran into Alli Fields and family which was fun:
We had a great day riding rides and taking turns swapping babies.
Peter Pan had the longest line all day, but we ran there just as the part was closing (even though we were exhausted) and were able to finish out the night with it. We clocked 30,700 steps, 30 different rides (some twice), way too many churros, and had just the best day ever. The next day, we drove into Newport Beach and our family did baptisms in the Newport Beach temple. We ate lunch at a really neat restaurant called Mendocino Farms. They had foosball tables to play on while you waited for your food.
We stayed at a fun Hyatt resort in Newport Beach. It had a free par 3 golf course- so we played best ball with the kids.
They also had shuffleboard which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
Later that night, we met all the family for dinner at the Spaghetti factory. They boys and I hit the hot tub that night and then Liv, Carter, Camden, and I all roasted s'mores. Derek went to get Steve from the airport. Steve was to fly out from Provo and meet us all there on Friday; however, his Provo flight got canceled, so last minute we had to get him a flight from Salt Lake. Cousin Melissa was a godsend and helped get Steve to Provo and then Salt Lake and made sure he was set up with a wheelchair to get him through the ginormous Salt Lake Airport. Then, Derek picked him up in Long Beach late Friday night. Saturday was taken up with wedding festivities. Derek and I attended the sealing and the kids waited outside with Karlee and her kids.
We took family pictures outside the temple.
We made sure to get the boys kissing Daniella's cheek- as we had a similar picture we wanted to re-create from Tanner and Karlee's wedding.
That evening Daniella's family put on the most beautiful dinner and reception.
They had a little ring ceremony and each boy was named a best man and got to walk one of Daniella's bridesmaids down the isle. The dinner was fantastic. After the dinner, they let some family and friends speak and then played some games. Chase and Daniella played a shoe game where each held one of each other shoes and would hold up a shoe to answer the questions about which one of them was the better driver, more adventurous, and so forth. They had a little scavenger hunt for all the bridesmaids and groomsmen to play- the boys loved this. It was like musical chairs. They would send all the bridesmaids and groomsmen running around the room to find a man's belt, a $100, a women's shoe etc. And the last one back was out, they would remove a chair each time. Then, there was big dance party and everyone got light strings to swirl around. We ended the reception by all going outside to send them off and then, the rest of us stayed and cleaned up. The last day there, the boys and I rented beach cruisers and we did a bike ride down by Newport Bay.
Then, the Davidson family came over to our hotel to play shuffleboard and swim in the pool before we had to head to the airport.
We had trouble landing back at home because of winds, so after attempting to land multiple times, we were diverted to Boise to refuel (but then they over-fueled the plane and had to defuel) before we could finally fly home. I told Steve it was because he brought his bad flight luck with him.
