Derek had kind of had a uneventful 40th birthday. He liked it that way supposedly. He had a cold the few days before, so he was awaiting COVID test results (which ended up being negative). He missed Chase's temple endowment which was a super special experience since you can't get into the temple currently with all the COVID restrictions unless it is for a live ordinance like this was. I went a brought a bunch of family names for people to take through for me, then we all went to breakfast afterwards. Derek's test results came back negative half way through the day and decided he wanted Red Robin for dinner, so that was about it. The kids got him a charcoal chimney, Liv gave him a gift card for a daddy daughter date for pedicures, and he bought himself a shed which he has been loving.
We had been itching to get down to St. George and finally the kids' Fall break presented itself as the perfect time. We drove down the day after Derek's birthday and Babi and Papou had fresh warm pita with a candle marking Derek's 40th waiting for us.
Mom had been wanting the kids to paint rocks to take to the Aspiration Trail forever. The last time we went down there they picked out rocks, but then didn't make it down again to paint them unto several months later. They all painted rocks outside, London laid close by for moral support.
Then, we hiked to the top of the Aspiration Trail, everyone leaving their rocks somewhere along the way The trail is lines on both sides most of the way to the top with rocks that have been painted many have positive aspirations or quotes written on them. One night we all went to play pickleball at a cool city park. The boys hit up the splash pad and playground before we hit the courts. They had these water guns you could aim at people. They loved that and soaked any kid who came close.
We also checked out Snake Hallow mountain biking trails. They boys thought it was awesome. It was kind of fun to just watch the super advanced bikers go off the big jumps. While there Derek and I went to the foot spa palace for foot reflexology and Chinese Massage. We both love that place. The boys and Babi and I explored the botanic garden which was decorated for Halloween.
